Barbara Bui to be guest of honour at 48H Maisons de Mode

barbara bui

By a happy coincidence of scheduling, Maisons de Mode will celebrate its 10th anniversary at the same time it is graced by an exceptional godmother patron in the person of designer Barbara Bui at the 48H Maisons de Mode fashion show !

Born in Paris in 1956 to a French mother and a Vietnamese father, Ms. Bui was obsessed from a young age with literature and fashion. It was great books that led her to start her studies in English literature and theatre. But the other passion from her youth would ensnare her later.

‘I went from the desire to write words to the more direct writing of shapes, colours and lines.’
It was in 1987 in her boutique-atelier in Paris’ Rue de Turbigo that she launched her eponymous label of luxury womenswear. There she would develop her first collections, pieces in suede and leather that blended feminine elegance with a rock ’n’ roll avant-gardism. The results immediately sent shockwaves through the Paris fashion world.

Currently selling in business, fashion and cultural capitals around the world, her label continues to grow. Besides her flagship store on Paris’ exclusive Avenue Montaigne and other Parisian boutiques, Barbara Bui is also sold in Milan, New York, Beverly Hills, South Coast Plaza, Costa Mesa, and in Russia and the Middle East.

Exquisitely cut leather trousers, embroidered jackets, python handbags and shoes all confirm that she is a master at her art – and that her collections are timeless.
The label has also earned a fervent following over the years, with fans such as Gwyneth Paltrow, Beyoncé, Charlize Theron, Kristen Stewart, Jessica Chastain and even Katy Perry, all expanding her global renown to the international public at large.

Maisons de Mode would like to thank her for accepting our invitation to this special event, which will kick off Friday 15 September in Lille…

Exclusive : french legend Mat Bastard comes to 48H Maisons de Mode

Mat Bastard 48H Maisons de Mode 2017

Saturday 17 September, from 7.30 pm at the Gare Saint Saveur, three huge names in French music will set the party on fire at 48H Maisons de Mode !

Mat Bastard VS a-vox dj set

In an exclusive performance, Mat Bastard will grace this edition of 48h Maisons de Mode with his presence.

Having worn many hats on his road to renown (producer, director, author/composer), the founder and former leader of legendary French electro-funk punk band Skip The Use will invite the electro-rock duo a-vox to the turntables for a six-handed dj set. Mat Bastard, Anthéa and Virgile (a-vox) will serve up an unprecedented set of pop, minimal beats and underground techno.

The Spunyboys

The Spunyboys, the rockabilly-flavoured group, will keep the party going strong with a concert featuring original songs and covers. With more than 800 performances on their schedule this year, the trio will share their passion for music from the Fifties and their fiery stage presence at Bistrot St So.

Formed in 2006 in the north of France by brothers Rémi and Guillaume, The Spunyboys came together in 2011 in their current line-up with the arrival of Eddie.
The traditional concept of rockabilly revamped for a new era, evoked on their album ‘Rockabilly Legacy’, sets the tone. Rockabilly itself has a heritage melding hillbilly culture with African-American sounds of the Fifties (rhythm & blues, boogie, etc.). The French trio builds on this American tradition, navigating along the Mississippi, with style, panache and stellar energy.
