Spaces devoted to designers in Lille and Roubaix

Following acquisition by public authorities and renovations overseen by architects, spaces have been turned over to designers in Lille and Roubaix.

In Lille (Rue du Faubourg des Postes)

11 studio-boutiques and 8 apartments have been renovated for the project (a second phase of works will result in 6 new boutiques in 2010)

Laying the ground for fresh talent : the Jardin de Mode is situated in a vast 1000m² former cinema. This space includes: studios devoted to ?fresh talent?; a prototype workshop; a large hall for fashion shows, exhibitions and other events; a fashion laboratory boutique bringing together young designers; and a bar restaurant.

The multilabel laboratory boutique : a 40m² white space located at the entrance of the Jardin de Mode today serves as a showcase and shop of various designers. The heart of this new boutique is a veritable laboratory with a selection of original creations found by the Maisons de Mode team and replenished every two months.

The Jardin du Mode multilabel boutique is open Tuesday to Saturday from noon to 7pm.

In Roubaix at Avenue Jean Lebas - Rue de l?Espérance

15 studio/boutiques near the periphery of the La Piscine Museum and in a renovated industrial space called Le Vestiaire.

Adjacent to the Musée La Piscine, Le Vestiaire is a building of approximately 1400m² that, until a short time ago, was a headquarters for a heating business. The building has been renovated from top to bottom by Antwerp architects Sven Grooten and Geert Verbruggen of famed firm B ? Architecten and Roubaix?s Cabinet Caban SARL. The new space includes 8 designer boutiques, a bar-restaurant entrusted to the Maison Meert (which has launched a new concept there: Labo).

In front of the Museum on Avenue Jean Lebas, 7 other shops have been renovated to create a new space to stroll through an area punctuated by designer boutiques.

The official inauguration of Maisons de Mode Roubaix took place 4 December 2008.
