Following selection by a committee comprised of fashion design and fashion industry professionals, designers chosen benefit from a wide range of personalised services and assistance to develop and to improve the long-term viability of their business. This support lasts for 24 months, with the possibility of a one-time renewal based on a strict brand development criteria. Designers eligible for the program may come from anywhere in the world. The only requirement is that they base their activities in either one of the designated neighbourhoods in Lille or Roubaix. The two profiles of candidate sought: Established designers : Maisons de Mode seeks talented apparel and accessory designers, be they from the north of France or elsewhere, who have been active for a few seasons but wish to launch their own label in a professional and commercially viable manner.Fresh talent : Maisons de Mode also is involved in supporting designers who wish to create their first collection through Jardin de Mode. Here, they benefit from 7 ?mini-studios? where they are trained in the technical aspects of design and can take advantage of the full range of services offered by Maisons de Mode: participation in fairs and trade shows, sales of their first collections through the Jardin de Mode multilabel designer boutique, and more.At the end of their ?incubation? period, certain designers can request to set up shop in one of the boutique spaces available through Maisons de Mode in Lille or Roubaix. Today, Maisons de Mode supports some 20 designers ? a number that will double in 2011. Certain contracts will come to an end of their duration, thus Maisons de Mode is currently scouting for new talent for both boutiques in Roubaix and 6 new spaces in Lille, the latter of which will open in 2011. |
