In the 30th Marché des Modes spotlight : Nunki by SL

A graduate of Paris’ prestigious Esmod fashion institute, Stéphanie Lanskin is today an interior decorator. Just one year ago, she created the brand Nunki by SL on a lark to produce artisanal weavings as jewellery.

It was in Morocco where Lanskin dropped her suitcases five years ago to renovate and decorate riads, traditional Moroccan garden top homes. It was by serendipity that she discovered the Moroccan craft or weaving.

Immediately enchanted by the finesse and elegance of what she discovered, she conceived a collection of bracelets that would be stunning and give tribute to the savoir faire of Moroccan artisans.

Normally sewn on garments, this weaving inspired Lanskin to flip the script on tradition. She works in collaboration with craftsmen who either manually weave or use a little artisanal machine from another time. She then mounts the bracelet herself in her Parisian workshop where it become a complete piece of jewellery.

Passionate about handcraftsmanship, Lanskin hopes, through this project, to pay tribute to Moroccan heritage as well as the richness and power of creating by hand.

Maisons de Mode is happy to welcome Lanskin and her new collection to the next edition of Marché des Modes which will take place at the landmark ENSAIT building and at Le Vestiaire December 1-3 in Roubaix.
