Adresse : 27 Le Vestiaire, rue de l?Espérance - Roubaix Hélène BoulangerMarque : Sue by Sue Elen Type : Womenswear ![]() A pioneer of Maisons de Mode Roubaix, the Sue label launched a new concept of boutique-apartment. With more than 60 points of sale in France, Sue has also conquered the international market through sales in London, Antwerp, Japan, the US and Hong-Kong. Sue is a family affair, created by designer Hélène Boulanger, a former student at Esmod International, and her brother Christophe, the business manager of the label. This family business aims to keep 80% of its production in France and to do its Roubaix roots proud. Each collection draws from various influences from sources such as Antwerp and London. The label?s design has evolved in an artistic and musical environment since its beginning, getting inspiration from this atmosphere as well as the media. This philosophy is behind garments that are at times romantic and delicate with wispy fabrics and silhouettes, but with an edge. The Sue label is about genuine, feminine, timeless style evoked in classic pieces that accentuate the personality of the wearer. Wardrobe essentials are reinvented and refined from seasons to season: for example, the kimono and the little black dress are made summer in lighter materials, but for winter they come in versions more suitable for autumn/winter. Leslie Ferré approaches fashion not as an art but as a craft. A garment is made to be worn everyday and to reveal the natural beauty of a woman while emphasizing her individuality. Inspired by artists such as Gilles Jobin, Christian Rizzo, Michal Rovner, Yoshitomo, Nara, Jim Jarmusch and Wim Wenders, she also has a penchant for fashion from the 1920s to the 1950s. The Vermeulen sisters, Eglantine, Myrtille and Eugénie, were all on roads in seemingly different directions: agricultural engineering for one, accounting for another and merchandising for another. But Églantine and Myrtille found that their shared love of clothes was stronger than their career paths, and decided to devote themselves full time to fashion. Eugénie signed on to handle the marketing of the venture. The Vermeulen sisters have combined creativity, a strong work ethic and the quality embodied in the words ?Made in France? in their label Rhum Raisins. The aesthetic is an original style far from fashion clichés. With a showroom on Brussels? chic Avenue Louise, as well as another in Paris on the Rue de Rivoli, Rhum Raisons also now has a studio/showroom at Willems (59) and a shop in Roubaix. The Rhum Raisins label is all about wearable, casual chic that is fresh, feminine and made of natural materials of the highest quality. Her necklines offer many options for wear, from back to front for bare backs ? or open fronts (paired with tops for modesty?s sake). These little details and the versatility of her womenswear allow the wearer to create different looks and silhouettes, blending together effortlessly for a genuine style. The designer?s penchant for ?noble? materials is evident in her use of silk chiffon, delicate cottons, ultra-supple wool, and whisper-light gauzes combined with gorgeous knits in viscose. Web site : www.orlaneherbin.com Adresse : 105 Avenue Jean Lebas - Roubaix Peggy HoussetMarque : Peggy H Type : Womenswear ![]() Peggy Housset takes inspiration from various sources, which stem from and feed into her varied experiences: her love of contemporary dance and movement led to work designing costumes for the Philippe Decouflé Dance Company, her training in furniture design explains her fascination with how a garment is constructed and put together, and living in Italy, the UK and Spain has provoked her ongoing fascination with cultural differences. These influences are recurrent themes in her work. Following time designing for Alberta Ferretti in Italy and freelance designing in Paris, she decided to launch her own high-end line PAP for women, as well as a children?s collection, thanks to the support of Maisons de Mode. Intemporary Mood : Pieces evoking a relaxed elegance, inspired by sensuality, volume and the line of the silhouette flowing from the mood and movement of the woman wearing these pieces. This collection is for the woman who is timeless, sophisticated, independent, unpredictable and living in the moment. Individual : Serious elegance for the modern woman. Influenced by the Bauhaus school of art which seeks the intrinsic aesthetic of an object, garments in the Individual collection strive for a timelessness and purity. Architectural in their construction, pieces are built around the body through the assembly of modules following a blueprint. The carefully chosen fabrics are made of natural fibres that give a lightness and fluidity to movement. Adresse : 27 Le Vestiaire, rue de l'Espérance - RoubaixCréation sur-mesure. Pour un RDV : 0663190571 Quentin CarnailleMarque : QC Type : Jewellery ![]() When Quentin created his first jewel from a mechanism of a vintage watch, he didn?t think of his handiwork as « precious ». In fact, this recent architecture graduate of Saint Luc Tournai is far less pretentious than that : for the moment, he has decided to devote himself to goldsmithing. His approach is novel : using the workings of hand-wound watches as a basis for creating rings, bracelets, necklaces and other jewellery. It all started when he decided to make a gift for his father, who is a timepiece enthusiast. Cufflinks were among his first creations. These first pieces quickly attracted a following, which led to their being sold at the Louvre des Antiquaires de Paris. Supported by Mr Arka, who was a true believer in Quentin?s work, Quentin decided to expand on his concept. He quickly acquired training in how to handle the business side (marketing, law, accounting). Creating jewellery from vintage watches allows Quentin to give these objects a new lease on life. The pieces are largely mounted on gold or silver and feature precious gems. The result is a transformation of mundane objects into something spectacular. After having marked time for countless hours, these watches now take time off, to be adored simply for their beauty. Quentin?s new boutique is located in Lille Sud. Adresse : 62 Rue du Faubourg des Postes - Lille Stéphane MartelloMarque : Mister Crochet Type : Knit ready-to-wear and accessories ![]() Working in knits and crochet, designer Stéphane Martello studied three years at the Beaux Arts in Tourcoing where he worked in textile sculpture. He then moved on to a BTS in fashion and design at the Lycée Sévigné in Tourcoing. From there, he found his heart was in knitting and crochet. At the age of 26, he met high-end ready-to-wear designer Karim Tassi and collaborated on Tassi?s fashion show in the framework of fashion week. His contribution included some spectacular pieces he created. He had found his calling: little by little, Stéphane Martello transformed himself into a veritable virtuoso of the knitting needle and crochet hook, crafting garments that continue to amaze. Creative, meticulous and fascinated by yarn and sculpture, the young designer has created a new architecture for clothing. He is inspired by forms found in nature: seashells, tree trunks, rocks, desert landscapes and volcanos. As for other designers, Stéphane Martello loves the sobriety of designers such as Japan?s Rei Kawakubo (Comme des Garçons), British designer Hussein Chalayan and the Dutch duo Viktor & Rolf. He also loves the extravagance of John Galliano and other designers that veer between art and conceptual fashion. He can be seen at work in his new Roubaix boutique, which carries his complete collection of bags, scarves, hats, jewellery, other accessories and some one-of-a-kind pieces that are the very definition of sumptuous.
