This is the vision of U-exist, a militantly orthopaedic design studio that is unique in the world. These pattern & print designers through their brand offer customisation services for orthopaedic equipment to allow people to show their individual personality and style through their prosthetic pieces.
Facilitating access to design through orthopaedic equipment is the driving goal of this partnership. As a bridge between the patient and ortho-prothesis manufacturers, U-exist participates in conceiving and printing designs as well as applying designs to prosthetics so that each piece lets the patient express their personality. It’s a collaboration between all parties involved, playing with differences.
More than just a design studio, U-exist is a new way to see those differently abled, taking part in the evolution that speaks to the right of each person to rebuild themselves, displaying their individuality, creativity and feelings.
Having seen cold and impersonal prosthetics over the years, orthopaedic studies graduate Simon Colin was moved to shake up the aesthetic to broaden the range of choices for the differently abled. His avenue: customising prostheses, orthotics and corsets.
This is how U-exist came to be, with a mission to help people exist more fully through their pieces.
Artistic director and designer Amandine Labbé joined soon after, allowing U-exist to fully form its vision of the differently abled. The result is something truly revolutionary.
